Smmol Is In The News
The Israeli horticulture monthly published  an article on what we are all about.
We are beginning to have an impact on the growers here in Israel.
That's good news...more and more growers are interested in this kind of marketing.
It makes sense to them

Agritech-Israel's Agricltural show
Yesterday we visited Israel's agricultural show -in the Tel -Aviv fair grounds.
Eyal and Dr.KopelevitchEyal and Dr.Koplevitch at the Hazera booth
Israel is still considered by many as one of the worlds Agricultural superpowers. And they are all here on display.

This show runs every 2-3 years so its a big happening.
Besides the usual tractor and heavy machines I saw innovation in spraying mechanics, and in small engine tools for the greenhouse.
It is very clear that Israel agricultural innovation is moving away from hardware to computer software, and bio-technologies.
Many new companies that I never heard of were displaying state of the art software such as backsoft- a company that developed a system that can give you critical information on you hand-held cell phone.Other software development in the dairy segment were also interesting.

In the bio-technology there were the classic companies that have been doing this for many years-Hazera seeds being the forefront of Israel's bio-technology.
Many companies did not display this year. I found out that these companies prefer to spend their promotion $ in exhibitions abroad, since they are targeting the Agricultural communities outside of Israel, so companies like Netafim irrigation and Histill (speedling) were not present.

It is obvious to me what is happening. There are fewer and fewer farmers here in Israel That does not mean we are farming less land then before, on the contrary we are moving away from small family run operations to farmers partnerships were the farms become bigger, more professional, and you need a specializes labor force, together with extremely professional picking force.

Israeli government isn't helpful anymore. Instead of grants and good loans today farmers are paying high taxes and getting absolutely no support. This is tough since our competitors from developing countries are receiving large grants and paying less income tax.

In the past every new innovation that Israeli companies had would be first installed on our farms here, making the Israeli farmer always very high techi and on the other hand helping these companies produce a fine end product that would be exported all over the world. Alas no more. Israeli farmers are very weary of investments and the sun is setting on Israeli agro-technology.

In the show I saw hundreds of delegations from all over the world- especially from the South America.
I hope Israeli companies will make good business, we certainly still all want to be in the forefront of agricultural technology.

Paradise is VANUATU
Look it up in your atlas-Its east of Australia a group of 85 Islands. Its called
VANUATU.beach.JPGwild beaches,great diving,superb fishng
Once they called it the New Hybrids. Once the English and French sat there and Once in WWII the United States Navy had a base their.
Can you Imagine a country that grows by 2 inches every year.
A country that has no homeless or starvation--if you are hungry simply pick a coconut or pampelmoose(pomegranate) or mango.Ever eat tuna not from the can. cocunut1.JPG it's a developing country that urgently needs investments, but because food is not an issue they don't have to except any body under any condition.
There are people there that are well educated, they have people that are wise in their ways, and the people are with down to earth attitudes laydssellingcocunut.JPG women selling cocunut in the market
Imagine a population of 170,000--that's it..
stretched out on the different Islands.
They are a democracy-with parliament, political parties, a judicial system and a police force in a democratic style, free elections, just as we are.

so what was I doing there
There is a business opportunity both in agriculture and in tourism, all very wild but so very attractive.cocunutcar.JPGcar runs on coconut oil
How to do this in a way that will serve the needs of everyone has to be thought out very carefully, but with good insight and judgment It can be done
enjoy the pictures.
