Trip to Israel School Project

This initiative comes from Kathy Rosenbluh at the Ezra Academy school in Woodbridge Ct.
The idea is to buy a mix array of flowers from us, the kids in the school will be making  the floral arrangements, and selling them to the community. With the money they make they will make a trip to Israel.
They already have a very nice number of standing orders and hopefully they will be able to increase that number.
What a great project this is. First of all the kids will appreciate flowers, working with flowers and making arrangements is always fun.
Second they will learn that you can have fun and make money
Thirdly the money is for a goal---to come on a trip to Israel----
When you set a goal and get the right "tools" in place the achievement is everlasting.
This is a  great lesson -- we all have learned something  thank you Kathy
We will be supplying the kids with different types of flowers  during the year so they will experiment with them. For the first order we are sending them Lisi's in all different colors
and 2 greens, Aralia (fatsia), and  Cocculus.

To all our Jewish friends have a zom kal (easy fast)- God Bless

An interesting e-mail I received. and my answer
I will greatly appreciate if you can send me information about the State of Israel national flower.
My information is that the flower is the kalania, but I want to know it for sure.
Thank you from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
       Ricardo M. Alterman

Hello Ricardo
Israel doesn't have a national flower, however an Israeli born in Israel is called a "sabre" or zabar. The sabre is the fruit of the cactus hence the name sabre.
It is native to Mexico and was brought to Europe by the Spaniards in the days when Spanish exploration in south America was at its peak.
It was brought to our are by the Turks 200 years ago.Today it grows in the wild, and there are a few farmers that grow this fruit.

Israeli's are known to be very tough and "thorny" on the outside very soft and sweet on the inside.
I have added a picture of the fruit.s_zabar.gif
