Ever wonder how it is that during the Olympic Games top competitors perform at their maximum? Or how is it that in
Silicon Valley so much technology is invented. I call it the competitive togetherness.
Here in the Arava we have it also. Farmers are forever competing, and it is this friendly competition that boosts
results. As the farmers compete so do the companies that are after the farmers $. Seed companies try to develop, top quality
high yielding products. Just in the Pepper alone there are 3 companies with field trials with many varieties competing
against each other. The fertilizer companies, the storage companies the exporters, everyone is on the cutting edge of
finding new solutions.
This type of atmosphere becomes very potent when potential meets market, or when ideas come together in
one physical place, or competitors can see their rival's advancement. And if you add to that the possablties of seeing
quick returns on investment, when spending $ on R&D can immediatly be translated to revenue you have a power factor
of unimaginable possibilities.
This type of competitive togetherness here in the Arava means better products, produced with more advanced technology
and at a competitive price. (It doesn't make sense to produce flowers or vegetables that are going o be more expensive
at wholesale, retail level, no one will buy it)
In our flower business in the last few years' innovation usually means one of 3 things
-New flowers like the desert pea or desert yearning.
-New varieties like the finerich sunflower or the new lisi's
-Higher yields -lower costs for existing cultivars that means we can sell cheaper per stem.
End result-----better quality, cheaper prices and brand new flowers
